FGI’s 20th Annual Santa Claus Club
Dear Fashion Group Members & Friends,
As the holidays draw near - that glorious season of laughter and light - we remember, as always, that for some - the youngest and most vulnerable among us - there's little to be merry about.
With that in mind, as we do every year, The Fashion Group International Santa Claus Club gathers members and Seventh Avenue designers together to bring the real spirit of the season into the lives of needy children; to make their holidays dreams come true.
This year, while we are continuing our successful partnership with The Children's Aid Society and P.S. 20, we are including a third, most worthy beneficiary of what we know will be an outpouring of love and generosity: The New York Foundling Hospital. This year we have pledged to donate 350 gifts to underprivileged children from ages 4 to 8. Please take a moment to review how the gift program will work this year. Your early participation ensures that we reach our goal.
The program: Please fill out the following form and fax your commitment to us by Friday, November 5th. Your name will then be registered as a Secret Santa Claus for one of the children.
* Kindly try to send the gift the child has requested. Please plan to stay in the $50 price range.
*We are collecting the children's letters early allowing you plenty of time to shop and wrap your gift. As the deadline approaches, you will receive a friendly reminder from us.
*Please drop-off all gifts to the Fashion Group office , 8 West 40th Street, 7th Floor, starting Monday, November 29th & ending Monday, December 6th.
I hope you will help us to give a young child a memorable and happy holiday.
A little bit about our partners . . .
The New York Foundling Hospital
Founded as a home for abandoned children, The New York Foundling Hospital has been saving children, preserving families and building communities since 1869. The agency helps children, youth and adults in need through advocacy and through preventive and in-care services that help each individual reach his or her potential. In the tradition of openness and compassion of its sponsors, the Sisters of Charity, the agency cares for more than 13,000 children each year in the New York City area and in Puerto Rico as it upholds its guiding principle: Abandon No One.
Children's Aid Society
From adoption to foster care to health services and education, The Children's Aid Society is on the front lines of services to New York City's underserved children and families, providing cutting-edge programs in community centers, camps, public schools, family courts and even in children 's own homes.
This elementary school in the heart of Chinatown is home to a large roster of newly immigrated Asian children. The children look forward to writing to Santa each year. They will practice their English writing skills by participating in the Santa Claus Club project
